Here's an interesting tidbit- the Patriatchate of Contantinople and other orthodox churches have a long history of negotiation with the Muslim powers where they reside. According to Wikipedia the Protestant German and Dutch princes obtained aid from the Muslim Ottoman Empire in the Princes' wars with the Catholic Church.



Until recently the Catholic Church had never had dialogue with any Muslum power.
